The Burr Mansion is a Greek Revival style mansion in Fairfield with direct ties to the American Revolution. The current mansion was built in 1790 and is designed based on the plans from John Hancock's home in Boston. The Burr Family has had its roots in Fairfield since the early 1700s. The mansion is named after Thaddeus Burr, who had his family’s mansion rebuilt on the same foundation following the burning of Fairfield during the Revolutionary War. The Burr mansion is said to have hosted notable guests such as George Washington, Samuel Adams, John Adams, John Hancock, and Aaron Burr. Kronenberger & Sons Restoration performed an intensive renovation to the Burr Homestead involving selective demolition, carpentry, work on exterior stairs, decorative architectural woodwork, restoration of doors, windows, and shutters, wood flooring, tilework, fire-retardant coatings, paints and finishes, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection systems, and more.
