A stone’s throw away from the shoreline, Old Saybrook High School is located west of Old Saybrook Center along route 1 in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. The high school’s enrollment is around 530 students, with a very low student-to-teacher ratio of around 11 students to 1 teacher. Kronenberger & Sons was responsible for renovations to the entire school and surrounding fields. This nearly 10-million-dollar job required us to work throughout the summer and into the school year in fully occupied academic buildings while not disrupting students and faculty. Renovations to the school, building an addition onto an existing facility, and reconfiguring the athletic fields were the three major components of this project. Our work covered HVAC, electrical, plumbing, structural framing, soundproofing, egress, security, drywall, and finishes. While work was being done to the high school, Kronenberger & Sons simultaneously worked on Old Saybrook Middle School and completed work there one month prior to completing the high school.
